11 Types of Bedding
Many people use different types of bedding for practical and decorative purposes. Some common types of bedding are.
Bed skirt. A bed skirt is a material that covers the bottom of the bed frame and extends to the floor, which can stylishly hide storage space.
Bedspread. A decorative bedspread that serves as the top layer for the entire bedding setup. Bedspreads are useful for those who like to protect their bedding from elements such as dust or odors.
Blanket. A blanket is a long, soft piece of fabric that is usually used as a bedspread. Blankets come in a variety of fabric types, including microfiber (a blend of polyester and nylon), wool, polyester, satin, and other synthetic materials.
Comforter. A comforter is a slightly thicker padded blanket that is laid on top of other bedding to add warmth. There are many options for these types of bedding, and while many people prefer a down comforter, there are other down alternatives, such as rayon or polyester.
Coverlet. A duvet cover is a bedspread with a decorative woven design. It does not cover the entire bed and is usually hung low enough to cover the bottom of the bed.
Duvet. A duvet cover is a thicker version of a comforter. It is a soft cloth bag filled with down feathers or synthetic material. Most people buy a duvet cover to protect the duvet or for decoration.
Fitted sheets. A fitted sheet, or bottom sheet, is a type of bedding that fits snugly around the mattress (or mattress cover). It is available in a deep pocket type for mattresses with deep widths.
Flat sheet. A flat sheet, or top sheet, is a bedding item that is placed on top of a fitted sheet with a gap at the top end. These thin sheets can be used as a light blanket in warm weather.
Mattress cover. Mattress covers wrap around the mattress to prevent dust mites, spills, bed bugs, mold, and even regulate temperature. Choosing a hypoallergenic mattress cover is the best choice for people with allergies because it helps protect against allergens. Mattress covers help keep the mattress free from excess body soil and sweat.
Quilts. A quilt is a quilted blanket that is flatter and lays flatter on the bed than a comforter. You can use quilts as blankets, but they are usually not as fluffy and warm as their quilts.
Pillows. The two main types of pillows are sleeping pillows and throw pillows. Sleeping pillows are the pillows you use to sleep at night, usually protected by a pillowcase or covered with a pillowcase (a decorative pillowcase that hides your pillow). Throw pillows are decorative pillows that come in different colors and styles to highlight parts of the room.
