 In fact, whether it is cotton, linen, wool, or Tencel, modal fabrics will have a shrinkage rate. After the fabric is manufactured, printed, and dyed, it will be stretched, solidified, and washed. But even so, these fabrics still cannot achieve the effect of not shrinking at all.
 Since shrinkage is inevitable, what is the normal shrinkage range of the fabric?
According to regulations, the shrinkage rate of bedding should be within 5%, but because the raw materials of bedding are different, the shrinkage rate is also different.
So which fabrics tend to shrink?
 Among natural fibers, fibers with high hygroscopicity have a large shrinkage rate and vice versa. For example, we are talking about cotton, hemp, wool, silk, and regenerated cellulose fibers (natural, modal, viscose, bamboo, etc.). Since chemical fiber has low moisture absorption, the shrinkage rate is also small, and it hardly shrinks.
 Many people would wonder why knitted cotton blankets shrink so much? That's because knitted fabrics are loose structures. The tighter the fabric, the smaller the shrinkage rate, and the looser the fabric shrinking structure. Therefore, the shrinkage rate of knitted cotton duvet cover set will be higher than that of washed cotton duvet cover set.
How to reduce the shrinkage of the fabric?
 Sometimes, bedding will shrink severely, which is mainly caused by incorrect washing methods. Therefore, the following points should be paid attention to during the washing process:
1 Use washing powder or liquid detergent as little as possible, and add softeners appropriately.
2 Do not use hot water for cleaning, and the water temperature should be controlled below 35°C.
3 Before washing, soak in light saltwater for half an hour and then rinse with cold water.
4 It cannot be ironed at a temperature higher than 110℃, nor exposed to sunlight or dry.
5 Put it in a cool place, spread it flat or use a rod-shaped drying rack for drying.
6 The shrunken bedding can be pulled apart and ironed with a steam iron to recover.
 Fabric shrinkage is actually normal. You don't need to hear that the mattress will shrink after washing and start to doubt its quality. In fact, as long as we handle it properly, the impact of fabric shrinkage is very small, almost negligible.
Therefore, before buying new bedding, you must read the washing label and use the correct method for washing.
